Why 15% of People Get Hired…

Whaddya mean "OVER-QUALIFIED?"

A recent Harvard University study states, “The reasons why 15% of people get a job, keep a job, or advance in a job are technical skills and job-knowledge. Eighty-five percent of the reasons why people get a job, keep a job, or advance in a job are PEOPLE SKILLS.”

We’ve known, for years, that employers hire people (not credentials). In other words, employers hire whom they like. They don’t always hire everyone they like, but they never hire someone that they don’t like.

Bottom Line: Networking 1:1, i.e. creating/nourishing professional relationships is imperative for a timely, productive job-search.
